Female Genital Mutilation In Kenya – Stop the Blade! – Poem by Faith Okioga.
Ambitions, Dreams so bright
Cut! Silenced !
Like a butcher in a slaughter house
Who stares at blood without looking above
Who dares hurt an eagle
Aren’t pestles shaped to attract and fit
Mortars perfect as they are
Their imperfections grows with age
Why must they have to be Cut
Sliced by this Blade they do not deserve?
Women are weeping
Daughters are Crying
Thought of the Pains?
Hemorrhage, Vaginal problems ,the Cysts?
Thought of the Shame and Blame?
Thought of their Education?
Their lives? Sad. Death has taken them away
While the scars stay
Forever
My heart aches for you who weep
My soul bleeds for yours that have bled enough
My voice is raised for your freedom lost
You have the right to live Free from violence
Until this Blade is lost
So then shall my fight end
Stop FGM .
