The face of Fashion and Design in Kenya is fast changing. And every other event brings new tidings, new innovation and whole different way of doing things. This past weekend witnessed probably one of the most aristocratic and most waited upon fashion event in Kenya, the JW Show. This year marked the 6th edition since its debut in 2013 and the founder Jeffrey Wilson, who is also the producer of the show could not find words to describe just how grateful he is to everyone who has seen the show go this far.
The show, which also enjoys international recognition, brags itself as one of the few fashion events in the country with completely SOLD OUT TICKETS, and all the designs which were displayed on the runway that night were also sold! The JW Show producer and owner Jeffrey Wilson explained to Fotophreak the uniqueness of the show and how the event stands out compared to all other shows.
He talked about the nomination process that kicks off in all counties in from January for both models and designers until the creme de la creme of them all is obtained. This years’ event witnessed designers from 6 different counties including Nairobi, Nakuru, Kisumu, Kisii, Meru and Machakos.
During the show, the selected designers were paired against each other and their designs were vetted by a panel of 4 judges. The judges would then each give their comments on how each designer performed and award them points out of ten. Something that adds so much value, glam and flavor to the whole fashion experience.
