Ashok Sunny is a newbie in the fashion and designing industry, who founded Ashok Sunny Tailored Limited; a clothing store based in Nairobi, Kenya. Ashok is impressively a fashionable man whose brand specializes specifically in suits for both men and women. Ashok’s passion in fashion started while in campus; and even though he was studying a totally unrelated course, after graduating he decided to follow where his motivation was and that was fashion and design.
Mr. Ashok started working with one tailor then, and with time, more tailors joined in, partnering with Linen and Khaki company, and Fadhili who helped them grow. They tailored limited suits that any common ‘mwananchi’ can purchase to high-end suits. Ashok makes sure that the fabric used is done with craftmanship of high quality thus producing legit, credible and durable suits. The designs bring out an amazing and satisfying blend of colours especially in men’s suits.
Ashok introduced Ashok Sunny Tailored Limited at Two Rivers Mall, where he launched his four collections in a fashion runway he called ‘Fashion Show season 1’. This clearly means there will be many more of the fashion shows to come. The collections during the launch served elegance, a bit of African, extremely high fashion and exclusively posh, classy, well tailored suits.
With just a few years in the fashion business, many people seem to have embraced the Ashok Sunny label. Sometime from now I believe he’ll grace his collections in famous local and international runways, and will even get nominated into a couple of Fashion Awards.
His designs are worn by many media personalities and actors in the country. Actor Daddie Marto and actress Celestine Gachuhi were in Ashok Sunny suits in the Kalasha Awards last year. Daddie Marto also wore another suit from the brand to AVMCA Awards.
Actor Pascal Tokodi has also worn different outfits from the Ashok Sunny collection in different scenes of the local drama series Selina. Director Phil not only wore a suit from Ashok during his wedding but has also been spotted dressed in suits from the label in many other occasions. Comedian and actor ‘Njugush’ also dresses in Ashok Sunny suits not to forget Janet Mbugua, Cula Budi, Mr World Kenya and Kenyan musician Gilad.
Ashok Sunny’s dream is, as time goes by; for his brand to reach a bigger market, more people and his ready made outfits be readily available in shops all over the country. Apart from ‘Ashok Sunny Tailored Limited’ he also makes custom made high quality and affordable kids apparel called ‘Bespoken Jr’.
Being aware that just highlighting 10 of them from the hundreds we have and thousands more upcoming is quite limiting, we opt not to rank them in any order of relevance, importance or achievement, but leave that to your judgement.
